At Benchmark Timber we work with wood, one of the world’s only truly renewable resources. Protecting this renewability is essential for the future of our business, our customers and our planet. That’s why we are proud to supply certified timber through the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
PEFC promotes responsibly managed forests and provides trusted third party certification, so every piece of timber you buy from us is sourced with care. Whether you choose hardwood timber, softwood timber, structural timber or exterior cladding timber, you can rely on us as your local timber merchant for quality timber that supports sustainable forestry.

Our journey to net zero
At Benchmark Timber we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and running our timber yard as sustainably as possible. Over time we have made improvements that help us cut waste, lower energy use and operate more responsibly as trusted timber merchants.
We now heat our offices and production areas using a biomass burner that runs on our own waste materials, while surplus shavings are used locally for animal bedding. We also use electric vehicles around the timber yard and our delivery lorries meet clean emissions standards. Refuelling at our base reduces unnecessary mileage for timber delivery UK.
Our site lighting is energy efficient with motion sensors to prevent excess energy use and reduce light pollution. Most recently we upgraded to an eco friendly air plant system which has helped cut our energy consumption by around half.
